BOOKS

We're book lovers. Here are a few on-topic children's books we like. We're always happy to learn about other books, on or off topic.

A Very Special Critter - this Little Critter's book appears to be out of print, which is a shame because it's quite good. If you're having trouble finding it, try the library that's where we found a copy. It's about a Little Critter in a wheelchair.

Different Just Like Me -  this book explores all kinds of differences (Braille, sign language, wheel chairs, kids who like to run, adults who draw) and explains how they are "just like me." It reminded me of People magazine's -- Celebrities, they're just like us! --but in a good way.

Me I Am - a book that should be on every home's book shelf. "I am the only me I am; the only one who qualifies as me. This me I am, I always am is no one else but ME."

Oliver's High Five -  An octopus with just five legs. This one is admittedly not my favorite but it has illustrations kids like and a limb different octopus.

The Crippled Lamb - A Max Lucado story about a lamb who feels different because he can't run or play like the other lambs.

The Steadfast Tin Solider - A retelling of Hans Christian Anderson's book about a persevering tin soldier with just one leg.

The Carrot Seed -  A book about a little boy who persists even when others tell him otherwise.

The County Bunny and the Little Golden Shoes - this is a story about the Easter bunny but the focus is on being wise, kind and brave
